Pinewood Derby

Pinewood Derby

March 28, 2012

One of our favorite Cubbie events - Pinewood Derby!

Austin decided to go with a semi truck style.  His Uncle Scott help him cut and stain it.

Austin's first race of the night.

Austin's car is the one on the left.

I love this picture because I got him watching his car race down the track.

Austin is pretty excited because so far he has won every race.

Until he went up against the now 3-time champion, Cameron.

Then his car succumbed to another great car made by Torin.

1st place - Cameron

2nd place - Torin

3rd place - Austin

But Austin was super happy because he took 3rd.  By far our best showing.   Every year we have done a little better...this was probably Austin & Cameron's last race, so Austin told Sammy that maybe he would be able to win since Cameron would be too old.  Then we reminded Austin and Sammy that Cameron has a little brother that is Sammy's age....and I think building fast Pinewood Derby cars runs in the Shepherd blood.  LOL

3rd place prize was a giant size Hershey bar.  1st place prize was a bag of mini 100 Grands.   Cameron gave Austin the 100 Grands, and Austin gave Cameron the Hershey bar.  Smiles all around!

SUPER FUN!!!
