Championship Game

Mariners vs. Diamondbacks
 Championship Game
May 26, 2011

Tonight Austin's baseball team, the Mariners, played in the minor league championship game.  Austin was a very good team this year and they won most of their games.  They ended up losing to the Diamonbacks 4-6.

Austin walked twice in the game.

2nd Place Mariners (not too shabby).

My Little Fish

This week Sarah had swim lessons with Miss Tiff, who specializes in teaching toddlers how to swim. Miss Tiff has taught Sarah in the past, but I thought it would be good to take a refresher course before the start of the swim season.

After a week Sarah can now float on her back,

tread water, take a breath,

and swim to the edge of the pool.

Sarah is officially a fish.  She loves the water and she is always wanting to get in.  Thank you, Tiff.

Kindergarten Promotion

May 26, 2011

Today Sammy had his Kindergarten Promotion Ceremony (sniff, sniff).
Sammy completed kindergarten with high marks.  His reading skills have improved immensly.  We read scriptures every night and he always reads a couple of verses and he only needs help with a few words.  Very impressive.  He is already a bit of a math whiz handling addition and subtraction with great ease.  But the thing that impresses me the most is his maturity.  The kid is soooo polite and kind (but he does have his moments).

Before the promotion ceremony, they had an awards ceremony.  He received Student of the Month Award again this year.

Trey and Sammy in front of the school.  Next year we will be trying out a new school so we are sadly saying goodbye to Dreaming Summit.  The end of this school year has been very difficult for me because my kids have been going there for over 6 years.  So many wonderful teachers and students and staff and parents.  I hate saying goodbye. My heart aches...

Holy Crap! I'm gonna have a middle schooler!

May 25, 2011

Today was Tommy's 5th Grade Promotion Ceremony.  Tommy will be in middle school next year and I'm still in denial about it.  I knew the promotion ceremony would be today, but I didn't really think much of it besides, holy crap, I'm going to have a middle schooler.  Tommy dressed in his normal attire...then I went to the ceremony and realized I should have made him dressed up like these gorgeous girls - well, not like a girl, but dressed up...you know what I mean.

Olivia looking classy as ever.

Brenna looking so beautiful.

And Ian looking very handsome in a tie.

But I sent Tommy in sport pants and a Yankees shirt.

Matthew, Tommy, Quintin - Matthew and Quinton are two of Tommy's closest friends.  All their last names start with "R" and since they lined up in alphabetical order they ended up getting to stand next to each other.

Congrats Tommy!  You have worked hard for the past 6 years.  You learned a lot in elementary school and you have been a great example to your brothers. You got your homework done quickly and you always made sure we were to school at least 5 minutes before any kids were even supposed to show up. I hope your enthusiasm for learning continues at the next level.

HOLY CRAP!!!  I'm gonna have a middle schooler!!!

Preschool Party

May 23, 2011

Mommy & Me Preschool 2010-11
Marissa, Sarah, Haven, Bailey, Regan, Jacob

Tonight we had a preschool potluck party...it wasn't really a graduation or a promotion because they will all be in preschool again next year.  We had a fabulous preschool year.  We went on field trips to Cabela's, a pumpkin patch, the zoo, and Ceretta Chocolate Factory.

Ms. Denise hosted the preschool party (again).  A bunch of the kids went swimming, a few bounced in the bouncey house, and the rest ran around happy to be with their friends.  After burning off some energy we ate the delicious food provided by all.  We watched a DVD slideshow of all the fun things our Mommy & Me Preschool did this year.

Sarah recieved her certificate of completion.  Woohoo!  Only one more year of preschool to go...

Kindergarten Water Day!

LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL
May 23, 2011
Today was water day for the kindergarteners.  Sammy had a blast going around to the different stations!

Zach, Sammy, Denali, Trey - Sammy with three of his best buddies.

The sprinker station
Check out the kid in the background.  HAHA!!!  What was funny is a bunch of 2nd graders were out having recess and they all just sat there laughing at the kindergarteners trying to sit on the water.

Only 4 more days of school!

Mom Day

May 8, 2011 - Mother's Day

It's my day and I'll cry if I want to,
cry if I want to,
cry if I want to,
you would cry to if it happened to you.

For the most part, Mother's Day was a good day.  All I asked for Mother's Day was for my kids to be obediante, and cute, and kind, and cosiderate, and loving, and charming -  AND NOT TO FIGHT!!! Well, that lasted all of like 2 seconds, but I did get breakfast in bed.  Thank you, Austin.

And a cute "Character" picture.  As a family, we are working on building positive character traits so the picture is a  perfect addition!!!

I also asked for pictures...I realized that I don't have very many pictures of me with the kids, so I got some "mommy & child" photos. I'm annoyed I have my glass on because there is some serious glare going on, but I still got some cute pictures with the kiddos.

Rio & Hop

May 7, 2011
(it's been a busy month, so time for a little catch up)
Tonight the kids and I experienced a first - a drive in movie.

We put an air mattress in the bed of the truck, couple of lawn chairs for Jim and I, bought a bunch of treats, and enjoyed a double feature - Rio and Hop

We had a good time, even though it made for a long night...Sammy fell asleep during the first movie, Rio, then he woke up for the beginning of Hop. Jim, Sarah, and I also fell asleep.

Sammy and Sarah on the way home.  They were so tired...it was kind of funny watching them flop around in their sleep.

The Crocs

Sammy #7
Sammy's soccer season came to an end today.  Sammy was on an amazing team.  Coach Zane did a great job!  His confindence grew a lot as the season progressed and it was fun watching him improve.

The Crocs - Kevin, Kyra, Kade, Sammy, Zach, Ava

Today he scored 3 goals and had 3 assists.  Woohoo!!

After the game, we had an end-of-the-season team party.
Sammy ate 4 pieces of pizza...

...and a couple of cupcakes.

Thank you, Coach Zane!

Couldn't resist taking this super cute picture of Kade & Sarah with matching frosting faces.
