I'm a little behind so here we go...
Lake Havasu Plunge-N-Run
August 28, 2011
So I hitched a ride with Becca and her family to go to Lake Havasu for this race. The purpose of this race was to help train for our upcoming triathlon in October. This race was pretty difficult. The lake swim was nice, but totally different than swimming in a pool and the run was a very difficult trail run, but it was tons of fun, especially doing it with great friends like Becca, Brooke, and Laurel.
The race:
1 mile swim
6.2 mile run
Big thanks to Aaron (Becca's hubby) for being the photographer. He got a lot of great pictures.
This is before the race - left to right - Me, Brooke, two people I don't know, and Becca.
Ready, set, swim... We had to swim out to that bouey, then go right and pass two more boeys. Then we would turn around and swim back.
Brooke did awesome in the lake. She's a fish. She whooped us all in the lake with a swim time of around 40 minutes.
Here is me...I think I was the last person out of the lake. It took me around 56 minutes to finish the swim portion. I felt pretty good in the lake, I just couldn't swim straight. I would be going and then I would look up and realize I was swimming out to the middle of the lake or straight towards the beach rather than to the next bouey.
I was so happy to be out of the water that I sprinted up the hill to the transition area.
Putting on my shoes.
Becca did amazing. She was starting to get sick and she still kick pants!
Brooke looking good on the run.
Me & Laurel.
Ahhh...that water was refreshing. Lake Havasu City in August is super hot! Even with the early morning start time.
Becca finishing strong!
She took 1st in her division and 4th female overall. She's the bomb!
Brooke took 3rd in the division and 6th female overall, which really isn't fair because Becca was in the same division and us and she's WAY younger and lighter!
Me - still feeling good.
Yeah, I'm done. I took 4th in my division and 7th female overall.

Super fun race! Very challenging. I definitelly would like doing it again. I have lots of room to improve.
(in case I didn't make it clear, Brooke beat me in a race...I know crazy, but she is a really good swimmer and I'm a really bad swimmer, not that I'm making any excuses or anything...)
