Arrow of Light

Last night, our den had their Blue and Gold Banquet.  We did a Safari/Jungle theme.  Tommy was super excited because he got to bring his snake, Venom.

I was quite impress with our primary president, Heather.  Not only did she put on a good banquet - food, decorations, etc - she held Tommy's snake.

She also held Spike, the Joyner's bearded dragon, but for some reason she was a little more relecutant to hold Spike.

Tommy was present Cub Scoutings highest award - the Arrow of Light.  He also earned his Cub Scout Religious Square Knot, and six more activity badges - Athlete, Communicator, Family Member, Forester, Geologist, and Scientist.  He only needs to earn Craftsman and Traveler and he will have all 20.

The 11-year-old Scouts welcomed Bryan and Tommy into their troop.  Tommy has to wait a few more months until he turns 11 to actually join them.

Tommy and Bryan both worked hard to earn their Arrow of Light and I am proud of them.  Good work!!

All About Sammy

March 10, 2011
Sammy is 6 years old!!!!  To celebrate he got a Pillow Pet (it's a pillow and a pet). New Super Mario Bros and Wii Play, glove and hat set for next winter (he's crazy about gloves), and a king-size Twix bar.  Grandma & Papa Hardy sent him some money and Grandma & Ladd got him Lego Star Wars for the Wii and a DS game.  I think Sammy pretty much scored for his birthday and he hasn't even had his party yet.

Fast forward to March 12, 2011
Sammy started off the day with a soccer game.  Yeah!!!

This is his face after he scored an awesome goal!
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!

The Cake
My friend Antonia made this amazing dinosaur cake for Sammy's birthday.  Can you believe it?!?!  Everything is edible but the dinosaurs and the little plastic bones around "Happy B-day Sammy."

The Guests
Trey, Brian, Luke, Austin S., Denali, Zach, Austin, Sammy, Kade

As each boy came in they got a brown bag, which they wrote their name on and decorated.  This bag was for all the stuff they found on the dinosaur hunt.

Beforehand, Tommy and Austin set up seven dinosaurs around the backyard.  On the dinosaur hunt we would tell the kids to find a "T-Rex."  When they found it, there would be a prize and/or activity and then Austin would give some information about that particular dinosaur.

Dinosaur #1 - Iguanodon.  The prize - Dinosaur lollipop.
Dinosaur #2 - Allosaurus.  The prize - Dinosaur scratch ornaments.

Dinosaur #3 - Triceratops - Dinosaur masks

Dinosaur #4 - Tyrannosaurus Rex.  The prize - Dino Dig (96 little dinosaur were hidden in our sandbox).

After this we took a short break to have some shaved ice.
Kade - "Yummy!"  I think these were the hit of the party.  The kids loved them.

Dinosaur #5 - Tyrannosaurus Rex II.  The prize - dinosaur tattoos.
Dinosaur #6 - Brontosaurus.  The prize - Pinata.
Sammy knocked an arm off with his first whack.  This pinata was a bust because it broke after 3 kids...good thing there was TONS of candy inside.

Dinosaur #7 - Ankylosaurus.  The prize - Pin the tail on the dinosaur.  The point of this activity was to take us back inside the house.

After the games and activities, Sammy got to open the presents.  Boy, did he get some cool stuff - some money, an air hog, a Nerf gun, a Star Wars Lego kit, a motorcycle thingy, and a Wii game (Super Mario Sports).

Cake Time
Happy birthday to you,

Let's Go Fly A Kite

For our Family Activity on Monday night, we decided to take advantage of the strong breeze blowing through town. We pulled out our kites and headed to the park.

The US Navy kite was our best flier.

We had two dragon kites...they did pretty well, but they were a little harder to keep up.

Dad and Sammy making some adjustments.
